Pretty cool mobile Local Search functionality from Google:

Citizen Journalism/Micro-volunteering by mobile phone

I think this application – The Extraordinaries – at least conceptually, is very cool. So if I have this right, this is an iPhone app which sends you citizen journalism assignments that you can choose to pursue or not depending on your interest, location, time of day, etc.

Here’s an assignment communicated through the Extraordinaries iPhone app on behalf of the VoiceofSanDiego to report on government waste of water resources. That’s pretty cool.

I saw The Extraordinaries CEO and Co-founder Jacob Colker speak at the recent FOCAS 2009 forum in Aspen. He was impressive I thought.
